The mantra “everything’s bigger in Texas” represents the pride and culture of Texans. It also signifies the enormity of the state’s geographical area and the challenges therein for service providers. Barriers to traditional face-to-face statewide meetings and trainings are similar to other states (budget cuts, time constraints, staff turnover, etc.). TAASA’s answer to this challenge is technology. Keeping up with the pace of change requires the unification of technology and advocacy. The combination continuously provides convenient training and learning opportunities across the state. It has increased our reach to service providers, enhanced our ability in communicating the issue and continues to provide a platform for critical conversations and information sharing to occur. TAASA’s strategy in advocacy with technology has been well received in both rural and urban communities. Below please find the amalgamation of technology and advocacy by TAASA in Texas.
