The coalition created the Gender Positive Systems Advocacy Committee (GPSAC), a work group committed to ensuring the accessibility, safety, and equity in all systems for transgender and gender non-conforming people. GPSAC is a multi-community work group of trans identified service providers and allies. GPSAC was formed 2 ½ years ago in response to advocates needing assistance with supporting survivors who didn’t identify as cisgender and to address the needs of transgender survivors who are often silenced in LGB communities. We realized that service providers often forgot about addressing gender identity and the different needs of transgender survivors. GPSAC initially formed as a technical assistance and training provider and continues to evolve into a group that extends services with the goal of impacting systems change and that seeks to work collaboratively with both sexual assault programs and community organizations.
