The RSP with in partnership with the Stalking Resource Center held a Training-of-Trainers event March 3-4, 2009 in Tampa, Florida.
In order to address this intersection of stalking and sexual assault, and provide coalitions and rape crisis centers with the knowledge and tools to more effectively respond to victims, the RSP Training of Trainers on Sexual Assault and Stalking (in cooperation with the Stalking Resource Center) provided participants with a curriculum and additional resource components to take back to their state or territory in order to augment their work with local rape crisis service providers and others working to address the intersections of stalking and sexual assault. The curriculum and materials will help state coalitions, and the rape crisis workers that they train, to identify stalking laws that may be of assistance; to respond to survivors with appropriate services; and to incorporate stalking awareness and prevention into their community work.
One out of every twelve women will be stalked during her lifetime. At least a portion of stalking cases start or end as sexual assault. Other survivors experience both crimes in their lifetime.
For audience-specific trainings (i.e. advocates, schools, etc.) please contact your RSP TA Provider and they will happily send you the compiled training materials that were developed by coalition participants at the Training-of-Trainers.
